Golf Matches & Results

Play Golf & Represent the Region

As part of the GCMA East Anglia Region, members have the opportunity to take part in a variety of golf events throughout the year. These occasions offer a great balance of competitive but friendly golf, networking, and the chance to experience some of the best courses in the area and beyond. We are rightly proud of our ‘Match History’ with a broad record of fixtures that extend ….way back!

Our regional matches and trophy days provide members with the chance to:

  • Enjoy golf at top courses in the region.
  • Network with fellow golf club managers in a relaxed, enjoyable setting.
  • Represent the East Anglia Region in inter-regional matches.
  • Experience different courses and hospitality across the country.

Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or simply enjoy playing socially, our calendar of events is designed to offer something for everyone.

Regional Matches

Played between April and September, our regional matches are usually in the format of fourball better ball. These fixtures against other GCMA regions and industry teams are a highlight of the golfing calendar, combining friendly competition with the opportunity to connect with colleagues in the profession.

Ian Symington Memorial Trophy

A much-loved event on the East Anglia calendar, this year’s Ian Symington Memorial Trophy visits Purdis Heath- Ipswich

Played as a foursomes stableford over 18 holes, two teams compete: one selected by our Regional Manager, Gary Smith, and the other by our Captain. The winner is decided by the Team with highest aggregate points scored.

The Trophy was first won by Past Captain Scott, and ever since, the day has been about more than just golf—it’s about remembering and celebrating Ian. With plenty of personal stories shared, it remains a truly special event for everyone who attends. We look forward to the new club house facilities at Felixtowe!

GUEST DAY 2026

Our Guest Day offers members the chance to invite friends or colleagues to enjoy a memorable round at one of the region’s top clubs.

The Region held this year’s Guest Day at Bury St Edmunds, our thanks go to Mike and his team, who, as usual, hosted a very successful day.

Mike’s hospitality was first class. The course was in very good condition, considering the weather we have been experiencing. The greens , in particular, were excellent.

The food and service was outstanding, and Mike went above and beyond by supplying drinks at the halfway hut with Bob Tawell providing a buggy service, which was most welcome! Bury St Edmunds GC also presented a bottle of wine for each winner of nearest the pin.

A huge thank you to all our members and guests, who made the day very enjoyable.

Ian Bennett Memorial Day 27th September 2026

Thank you everyone that supported Ian’s Memorial Day today along with Tracy and her team at Maldon.

The East Region was well represented, with Gary, Julie, Bill, Scott, John 🪓 and myself all playing.

A fun day was had by all remembering our friend Ian, an emotional Sharon did a great job organising everything, and estimated that £1500 was raised for Ian’s bench, prostrate cancer and the Captain’s charity.

Scott grabbed a NTP prize and my son Liam won the NTP in 3!
